Ministry Moments
By Mary Jean Powers

Hey Friends,
It’s been a short month, but a packed one. And as always, it wasn’t what I expected. Some definite highs and one low, low — but all is well because of who God is. So thankful that He doesn’t change even though circumstances often surprise me.
Consecrated Conversations
For quite some time, I’ve seen the need to create a new opportunity for Jesus followers. You know how we sometimes have questions or wonderings about God’s ways and truth? And at other times, our circumstances require that we have an answer and we want to “get it right” but we don’t have enough information to draw righteous conclusions. Sound familiar? We usually want a quick fix, so we think or even pray about it, maybe ask a friend, or do a quick Google search to learn a bit more. But we rarely devote time to truly gain understanding about how the principles of Kingdom-living work.
That said, I’m offering Consecrated Conversations — private, one-day insight retreats for people who want more than advice — they want clarity, depth, and spiritual alignment around one issue that is weighing on their hearts or minds. One topic. No rush. Five hours of uninterrupted listening before God and in-depth conversation.
This is not coaching or therapy. It is not casual conversation. It is intentional, personal, Spirit-led dialogue around the Word of God.
I’ve already hosted several of these day retreats and the results have not disappointed! The most requested topics for Consecrated Conversations are:
- Forgiveness
- Stewarding the Gift of Time
- Sabbath Rest
- Missions
- Grief and Loss
- Friendship with the Holy Spirit
- Spiritual Disciplines
But the possibilities are unlimited. If you are interested, let me know via email, phone, or you can respond to this newsletter. I’d love to talk with you about possibilities.
February Debriefs
Debriefs this month were with seasoned missionaries, a college student, a worship pastor and a youth pastor. Talk about set-apart times with Jesus … Wow! He does for us what we are unable to do for ourselves, and with such mercy and kindness. It was an honor to be trusted with their stories and to sit in God’s presence with them, watching Holy Spirit breathe new life into their weary souls. What a gift He is!
Yuk …
The biggest surprise of the month came the week I was supposed to teach Walk Thru the Bible for YWAM South Dallas. I — who rarely get sick — was healthy one minute and the next, got hit with the debilitating flu/sinus infection stuff that’s going around. After two weeks, I’m finally regaining some energy. Sadly, I had to cancel my trip. I was so looking forward to working alongside some fabulous leaders and teaching Walk Thru in a YWAM setting. Maybe next year. Regardless, I’m relieved to be on the mend.
The Care Collective
You may remember the mention of The Care Collective in a previous newsletter. We are a newly formed team of “spiritual companions” — trained professionals who care deeply for the souls of ministry leaders. We tend to the whole person so that they can flourish on their journey with Jesus toward personal wholeness and joy in their calling. Check us out at thecarecollectiveministry.com and if you know some ministry leaders, please direct them to the site. We’d love to meet with them!
Upcoming Bible Seminars — You’re Invited!
Worship Seminar — This isn’t a “worship team” training. It’s a day to learn how God defines “worship” in His Word and how He wants to be loved. It’s interactive and All Are Welcome! Saturday, March 7 · New Hope Christian Church in Thornton, CO · 9 AM – 4 PM · $20 per person. An offering for GWO will be taken at the conclusion of the seminar.
How to Hear God’s Voice Through His Word! — Do you sometimes struggle to engage with the Bible? Would you like to learn how to spend time with Jesus in His Word rather than just reading about Him? Do you think God speaks through His Word … to you? Join us as we spend an interactive day with the Lord, the Bible, and each other! The format is: I’ll teach for a bit, then explain a Bible engagement method, then there will be time to practice it. We’ll learn 5–6 methods during the day. Saturday, March 14 · The Journey Church in Longmont, CO · 9 AM – 4 PM · $25/person. An offering for GWO will be taken at the conclusion of the seminar.
Thanks for reading, friends!
May you find that there is no godless place. May you welcome mercy in whatever guise. May you never run from forgiving grace. And may the God of mercy bless you, Father, Son and Holy Spirit.
Mary Jean :)
